This reminds me of the time my son broke his arm when I was in CA. I was fine for the ER visit, but when I needed to go in for a follow-up appointment I ran into a bureaucratic nightmare. after hours and hours on the phone trying to figure out my insurance situation, if this visit will be covered or not, I finally got someone who basically told me that the easiest thing for me is to get my son medi-cal as if we're illegal and then he'll be covered. (those are not the words she used, but that's what I understood. I think she said something like "just tell them you don't have any ID")
Spent an hour in a clinic and walked out with an insurance card. Sometimes it's good to be "illegal." (oh, and thank you CA taxpayers

)
