« on: January 13, 2015, 04:42:40 PM »
Is there any way to avoid the AA close-in fee on awards?

IINM the fee is waived for folks who have certain elite statuses.

Can they book for others?

Check booking with BA Avios. There is no close-in fee with BA

True, but they don't both have the same partners e.g. Hawaiian, or rates e.g. JFK-HNL.

AA doesn't have a 24 hr cancellation policy. and  their change policy is that a flight  cannot be moved closer than 3 weeks from the original booking without adding a close in fee.

When did it stop working?
??? ???   I know how to avoid the $75 AA close in fee, so? I still charge $35 for anyone who want's me to book the ticket for him without the $75.  That's business. If you want things for free you gotta work for it!
