+1 Agreed. That's more like gourmet pizza, which IMHO should be a separate category. Incredible nonetheless.

Talking about John the Italian guy? He owns a painting business these days lol. I'd be willing to bet he opted out of the kosher food business here due to the aforementioned lack of appreciation for good food.

Maybe he mixes paints as well as he put together a pizza.

The pizza place that sold to Bravo in lower manhattan had the best pizza in NY. Only sold brick oven personal pies. They were pricey but amazing.

I hear that. In comparison to Milky Way in Pittsburgh they 'aren't bad' lol. What's your favorite place in LA? Pizza Mayven?

You're right that it's not "Authentic" but id definitely consider mini gourmet pies to be more authentic than most pizza shops (can't comment on the pizza. Never tried it. Only the concept). If you go to Italy, their pizzas look nothing like the ones in America. They're aiming for the subtleties of flavors while in America, we go for quantity (and price)

I think I had it when I was younger but like the original post up thread, I really haven't found anywhere that comes close to the one in Rome and in Denver. My next best is home made.
I haven't tried anywhere in la that I thought was good.

I say it's time for me to either make a stop over in DEN on the way to LAX for peach or fly to Rome!

Fly to rome! There's also another milcheg there called yotvata which I also heard is great but I couldn't risk missing another pizza or dish for one night

I make my own sauce, my own dough (a slow fermentation dough, so it has a lot more flavor than just the general yeasty nonsense we are all so used to) and I usually use fresh mozz.
BTW, Pizza Time is one of the most overrated pizzas I have ever had. The fact that so many consider it "the best pizza" is insane. It's fine, but it's not memorable in any way. And the nonsense rumors that the sauce is the same recipe as the famous DiFara pizza a few blocks away (which I have obviously not had since it's not kosher) just show the ignorance of the average Kosher Flatbush consumer. The guy in DiFara literally doesn't let his own children make pizzas, but he's giving some Jewish guy a few blocks away his recipe?!
My personal favorite store-bought pizza (though not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination) is Fialkoff's.
And I had a pizza cone at KosherFest a last year. Probably one of the most vile pizza-related creations I have ever tasted. Another thing that is representative of the frum world's obsession with gimmicks over substance. I love being frum and I love frum people, but cuisine is one area of life that we have to change here.
