what would that take using this promo like 500k-1M miles and you would get like 250-500k back as united miles depending on your current status level.

Should be doable for much less than that.

+1. I know a few ppl who spend ~50k and have GS. There are a lot of GS members, more than I would think there is. I think its around 20k.
