Generally when just one seat is available and you're doing a 2BM one will come back not confirmed / waitlisted. However, with Lufthansa for instance a lot of times, intra europe flights will show up on UA as I1 however on LH it shows I5, what happens IME, one will confirm and the other will come back waitlisted however it will clear soon afterwards.

spoke to a rep today she told me the pilot program is due to end in 2 weeks and then it will be evaluated to be expanded or finished or changed according to the feedback they received.
