That's a pretty broad generalization of frum people. While I truly intend to always give maaser, I'm only human and I forget sometimes. Then an organiation spends money on a fundraising effort which reminds me to give maaser. That's money well spent by them.

(I don't need suggestions of ways to automatically give maaser, thanks.)
It's money well spent when that happens but not when it's %50 of the donation when there are cheaper ways of doing so.

TLDR.

Honestly, though, I did try. Perhaps break out your points into discrete sentences.

Now that I watched the video, I hear his point, but I don't think that it applies to more than %10 of frum organizations.

Nevertheless my original question in this thread is about collectors talking half of every donation, not how much of my donation goes to overhead.

He says in this video that his foundation was using %40 for overhead and got bad press for that which led to it's closing. Why should orgs give a %50 commission on top of the rest of their overhead? so I doubt even this speaker would approve of a %50 commission.
(Bump) So does a %50 commission make sense?

it wouldn't be common practice if there were cheaper ways to do it
BTW the CEO of the red cross makes over half a million
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I never looked into him in particular but I would assume that without a CEO with the knowledge and background that theirs has the red cross wouldn't be where it is now

and without a dedicated fundraiser no organization would be what it is

True! but that doesn't mean that collectors should get a %50 cut from every donation that they collect.

I want to thank all the wonderful fundraisers out there, yasher koiach for all you do. Recently I heard about one particular org giving their fundraisers a %50 commission, is that fair for the donor and recipients of that organization? I am all for fundraisers making a living, but if I pledge $1000 and find out later that the organization only got half of my donation it would make me feel like I was robbed, I feel that fundraisers should have an expected amount to collect annually along with a decent salary and get a bonus like a %10 bonus of all they collect after they hit their expected annual amount so they feel motivated to collect as much as possible just like plenty of business give to their employees, if it's a bad year and they fundraise just double their salary I wouldn't complain that they are getting %50, but when it comes to every single donation they are lechatchila getting half that just rubs me the wrong way.

P.s. in case it's misunderstood I'm not generalizing all fundraisers and all organizations c"v there are plenty of erliche fundraisers that work very hard day and night to help worthy organizations.

Yeah, glad you found it. This is the hidden "gay thread" on DDF.
If you don't know that the "high commission for fundraisers" controversy is really the same sex marriage controversy, you're not a real DDFer.
