A link about the boycott of Borsalino due to recent price-hikes: http://collive.com/show_news.rtx?id=33847&alias=grassroots-boycott-on-borsalino
Boycott.. really? Imagine someone decided to post a link to Boycott Chocolate Chips.
It's his business and he can run it anyway he likes
Boycott is a strong word. Just don't buy it.
It's a boycott link (from a year ago) about
the price HIKE. It was just a reference article to educate the public of the sudden price hike that was taking place that year.
Nobody
has anything against Borsalino or chocolate chips. They just refuse to "overpay" for them.
i.e. Many will not pay $6+ for a 9 oz bag of chocolate chips. There are some brands that charge $5-6+, and since we go through 6-8 bags per week, we are careful not to overpay. We will also work as hard as possible to keep pricing for premium chocolate as low as possible.
This translates into extra time, effort, and research into affordable FTLs, film printing, nut-free packing, warehousing, and low-profit distribution (and direct-to-store-sales/full-pallet pricing) wherever possible. This translates into longer work hours, however our goal is to keep $6/bag chocolate below $4/bag whenever possible.
P.S. I was in the Borsalino shop in Rome last year. They were extra nice; they knew that we were Jewish, and they let us try on $600+ hats, etc...
Nothing against the company. They are great and they sell premium products. Just offer an affordable option to the brand-loyal customers, if at all possible.
