How does Mountain Creek compare with Hunter?
Both similar to burnt toast gets the job done just not scrambled eggs, pancakes or waffles.

How does Mountain Creek compare with Hunter?
Hunter is further north so the snow is more natural and softer, mountain creek will have more ice patches, both pretty much the same skiing levels and similar price range. Only reason I'd go to mountain creek over hunter (or Windham) is it's 2 hrs closer to Nyc. (Just ftr there's always a bunch of potheads on hunter)

Mountain Creek has lots (for NY) of challenging terrain?

It doesn't seem like it from the trail map...

They do have a couple on bear peak, it's not exactly a huge mountain
They don't have lots of anything

Btw if anyone wants a ride to mountain creek on Monday let me know, I have plenty of place. Conditions should be awesome after all the snow fall.
I'm leaving there now, I had the same thought process, no such luck. They got a dusting over the weekend and it's all a big ice skating rink now. They're blowing snow all over.

The conditions were not bad at all. Just the mountain wasn't very challenging in general.

Not too much, probably 2-3 inches, but its still nice to have some fresh stuff. The weather was also cold, and they were making a lot of snow.

You are welcome to come a long if you want.

Har sinai?  :D

But seriously probably the poconos are the closest (Camelback, Shawnee, Blue Mountain).

BTW, if anyone is interested, Chabad of Scranton offers discounted tickets to Montage Mountain, and kosher food on sundays at the lodge:

Montage is about 1/2 hour further out than Camelback from the NY area, but the skiing is nice, they have some challenging black diamonds, and there are no crowds.

Ended up in Hunter. They had a few cold days, and they redid the entire mountain. Conditions were great with about 6 inches of fresh man-maid snow. They even had amazing fresh and soft moguls on lower crossover (if you know the mountain). I was planning to go again on Monday, but it didn't workout. It looks like its finally cooling back off; it should be cold throughout the next week. I am planning to go twice next week.

Went to Hunter on Wednesday. They had nearly 3 feet of fresh powder and nearly the entire mountain was left ungroomed. The season is far from over. I am going again on Sunday and probably have some place if anyone wants to join.
