I learnt at mountain creek. I had a good instructor even thou it was a group. And they have a very long easy green that I spent all day going up and down.
I'm not who you think I am.

I learned to ski at Bellayre and highly recommend it. It's much less crowded than its flashy neighbor Hunter, and much more down-to-earth and friendly. I did their 3-day beginner program, and 2 of the 3 days my "group lesson" was private.

I have a great private instructor hired to work with me and my kids this Thursday for the full day. But we already have basic skills on one level or another. Would love if somebody would take a couple of the hours as I think 2-3 hours will be more than enough for us. PM if ur interested.

Flying from LA to NY, and would like to make a 1 day ski stopover.

Where's the best place?
Would prefer not to need a hotel (land in AM and leave the same night)...

SLC? DEN? Anything else to keep an eye on?

My advice, check the weather and go to the most promising for that.
I've gone to SLC and den but some crappy mountain in NY was in a way better because there was much more fresh powder. I remember in SLC I was going down ice most of the time...

Denver is a no go... There is a single highway from the airport/city to ANY ski resort, so there is always tons traffic.

3-4 hours of it on a snow day, and it shuts down often enough.
