Since transferring from Starwoods to Continental costs 2:1 can you transfer to Delta and get a continental ticket with Skymiles? or if not transfer from Starwoods to Delta to Continental since they are part of the same alliance? ???

I was just curious if this was the standard work around to avoid the 2:1 exchange rate to CO or if i was missing something. (I dont want to transfer all those miles and then find out there was some detail not taken into account)
