Well all your gadgets can sync with the install-more-services-than-microsoft iTunes. I don't allow anyone to install itunes on any of my systems, it's insane how much of a resource hog it is.

The most annoying thing is that (AFAIK) there aren't any stand-alone iPod drivers out there to use with an iTunes alternative (e.g. SharePod, ephPod etc.).

True. I understand the need for extreme usability and simplicity. But in my experience, Android is on par for those things, but also has some flexibility for the other fruits

But there aren't any Android MP3/PMP devices on the market yet, or are there?

What classifies something as a MP3/PMP device? Today, anything including the toilet can play MP3's, so is the qualification storage? Because I believe there are devices with just as much storage as the iphone (maybe not 32GB yet, but then again you have expandability)

I think the thing that annoys me most about apple die-hards, is their inability to rationalize. When the iphone was released, I had no problem touting it as one of the greatest gadgets, possibly of all time (at the time). But that was 4 years ago. It's still a neat gadget, but google has surpassed it. Guys, it's time to wake up and smell the coffee. No one's saying that you should throw it away, or that it sucks. But realize that it's time has come and gone. Apple fans, you can turn to your ipads, but stop deluding yourselves that the iphone is still a hot item.

PS ipads have a maximum market dominance of 1 year, so get all your bragging in ASAP

Maybe I wasn't being clear with my question. I felt we went off topic and were discussing Apple products in general. Android offers a viable alternative to the iPhone, but what about alternatives to the iPods (especially the Nano and Touch)?

I actually have an iPod shuffle and I'm really not impressed. I loved my Nano until it was stolen (an old gen 3/4 maybe).

I had an iTouch (2nd gen IIRC) too at some point, wasn't as impressed as with my Nano, TBH.

I didn't need a wannabe iPhone, all I wanted was an mp3 player.
