Call National customer service and have them add it manually now ,retroactively

I spoke to National and the rep was able to grant 1 day free (not credits) as a courtesy so not all is lost.
However once the car rental is added to the enterprise plus program they cant transfer it.
 I will add in the enterprise wiki that in order to get national car rental credits to login with emerald account.

Anyone know the deal with returning a car to a diff location? I'd like to use a free day and do a one way rental from BWI to EWR but the car I want (premium SUV) won't show up as available when I choose EWR as my return location (if I return to BWI or shows as available). What would be the risk if I just rent it from BWI and then return to EWR

You are risking paying the one way fee and/or mileage, its not a good idea IMO

ime, (I just did t yesterday JFK -BOS) book the RT. You can simply drop the car at a different location with national but if it makes you more comfortable, I've always been able to change it on the phone. If your paying for the rental, obviously the rate changes, but if you're using a free day, it shouldn't change.

national doesn't have one way/drop  fees. They treat I as a different daily rate.
This has ramifications that are good and bad.
Good- free day certificate covers the daily rate which in the case of a ow means no drop fee.
Bad- if your renting a paid ow for a few days , it pays to "return" the vehicle and re- rent it at your location so you get a lower daily rate for the rest of the days.

(ie I book a lower class car on my EE account, and book a higher class car using a different account for my wife. And then cancel my wife's reservation right before I go to the counter.)

I doubt it makes much a difference for airport locations.

What gets reserved will be in a reserved spot what’s not specifically reserved is in the aisle, so no. (Even if you assume that specific car makes its way to the aisle, it isn’t precisely when you cancel.)

I heard 1 verified report regarding YYZ RT rentals, where they will charge $200 drop fee of returning in NYC even when using a free day. I believe they have caught on to what people are doing.

I never really paid attention to rental rewards despite renting 4-5 times a year .

Recently AA gave me avis status, used AA when booking a 3 day rental got 748 points which do also post as loyalty points oof

Probably would have helped me achieve easier with the early 2023 AA status challenge oh well
