I've never rented with national before. Is there a reason to worry when it says "your reservation is confirmed. An email has been sent... Upon arrival please proceed to the national car rental counter" does it always say that? Or is it only because its the first time I'm renting?

Nothing to do with flagged. It's fine.The first time renting with a new account from any company they want to verify the information on your drivers license. They may make you go inside, or they'll verify it by the exit gate.
And? Anyone have experience with national? Do they do a proper verification? Or the gate attendant just looks at your license for a quarter of a second?
