AA is extremely vigilant about this stuff.
If you even book for a friend, they may start watching you.
By the time they contact you, they're already 100% confident you are guilty.

Been a while since we saw these bh. Once they do lock your account for legitimate reason, you're out of luck.

Sorry for your situation but by giving AA the brokers info you only made sure that someone else is screwed as well. I did not know that people still fall for it and actually send them in all info.

In any case you should've asked them in a formal way to commit reopening the account if you provide broker info. Now you screwed the broker AND yourself.
You can say what you think when you think what you say.

Regardless of what happened from the time you sold your login until now, by selling miles (which you know is against the T&C's) you run the risk of this happening. Blame yourself (if you need to point fingers) and take responsibility for  your actions.

The broker probably did nothing different this time then all the other (possibly hundreds or even thousands of) accounts he's bought and sold. This may very well be his only Parnasah and he (hopefully) knows exactly what to do or not do. That's almost certainly not the case with whomever said broker sold the account to (or the passenger, if he booked the tickets himself).

It's possible the passenger (or person the broker sold the account to) said the wrong thing to the wrong person, or the AA automated auditing system flagged this transaction.
But that all doesn't matter anymore as it happened already.

Mr. ******,

My name is *****, and I am an analyst with American Airlines. One of my responsibilities is investigating possible instances of fraud, misrepresentation, and violations of the General AAdvantage Program Conditions. Today, I’m writing you about your AAdvantage® account # ******.

We have reason to believe that the transactions listed below violate one or more of the AAdvantage® program conditions. This includes, but is not limited to, prohibition of purchase, sale, or barter of mileage credit and or award tickets. As a result, American Airlines has suspended your AAdvantage® membership privileges and use of AA.com® in conjunction with your account – and may terminate your account as a result of our findings. We are in the process of completing the investigation into this matter, and I would like to hear the events as they occurred from your perspective. Please respond to this message by 3pm, CST, Wednesday,  2016, with complete and accurate information regarding the activities listed below:

********** – one ***,000 mileage award – * passenger

Required Information:

·         Passenger name

·         Origin and destination cities on the travel itinerary

·         Purchaser name (individual, company and/or website), including:

·   Copy of any advertisements to which you responded offering to purchase/broker the use of your AAdvantage® miles

·         Purchaser contact information, such as:

·   Mailing address

·   Email address

·   Telephone number

·   Website profile name

·         Your statement fully disclosing the details surrounding the sale/barter transaction referenced above

·         Copy of all communication between yourself and the purchaser

·         Documentation that you received payment

To protect and retain the integrity of the AAdvantage® program, it is vital that firm action be taken as a result of any violation of the AAdvantage® Program Conditions, whether intentional or not. Failure to respond completely and accurately by November 9, 2016, will result in the termination of your AAdvantage® membership and all its benefits, including all remaining AAdvantage® miles in your account and any award tickets issued from it.

Please, understand that our overall motivation is to preserve the benefits of the AAdvantage® program, rather than to take punitive action against individuals. To that end, it’s not unusual for us to release the AAdvantage® account suspension once we receive all the detail we request and reconcile it with the results of our investigation. We hope to hear from you soon.
welcome to the club!
no chance of getting your account open.

you can open a new account with a different DOB and address. I assume you dont have any more points in the account anymore as you sold them.

All of you calm down! I did not send them the brokers name!
I wrote that this guy is my friend and i was the one who booked it for him.

what i meant to say that i sent in all the info 'mine and the passengers info'.

If it makes you feel any better I lost 250,000 AA miles last year due to an audit. The funny part was the straw that broke the camels back was a ticket I booked for a real friend of mine as a favor.

I took a different approach based on some advice I received on the forum. I pleaded guilty, hoping for a lighter sentence and considering the crime took place over a year earlier. But I told them I did not have most of the info they requested, which was true.

Don't understand why someone would sell AA points without liquidating the entire account. Your basically forfeiting the remainder if you leave it there for some time.
