I made this point yesterday. I am going to be Dan le'kaf zchut and say that the people who are registering are actually getting married and the people that are in for 4 are lying. How else could people justify such blatant theft?

The only other thing I can think of is that people think that stealing $80 from a. Multi-billion dollar company isn't actually stealing since they have so much money.

I asked a dayan about this specific deal and (to cut a long story short) he told me that as long as I know that Amazon (or any other parties involved) won't find out that I'm not actually getting married then there is nothing wrong.

One of the things that I hate about DDF is that if someone says he asked a shayla to a rav and was told it's mutar, there will always be someone who starts insulting the rav, just because he thinks he knows better.
I've said this several times before, but apparently some people still don't understand it. Halacha doesn't care about your personal "ethics" or morals. If something is mutar, it's mutar whether you agree or not. Just because you get all indignant and start making fun of the rav or his psak won't change the halacha. Keep in mind there is a remote possibility that there are people in this world that are a bit smarter and more learned than you, and it's possible that they considered all of your "ethics" and paskened anyway that it's mutar.
I am not condemning or condoning this particular deal, but I think the attitude is disgusting.

Let me make 2 things clear here. 1. When you do something wrong you should realize its wrong and not convince yourself it's ok. 2. If a person says a rav said it's OK and doesn't want to say his name I think that's a bit interesting.

I disagree. Just like some ask for moderate Muslims to speak out against those Muslim "poskim" that give people the wrong impression about their religion, we too have a responsibility to call out those that make a mockery of ours. Just because someone has followers doesn't cloak them from accountability if they are preaching theft or xenophobia.

i may be way outta line here, but it doesnt say in the t&c that you have to get married. it says you get $20 for opening a registry. now obviously they assume that each registry will net them a certain amount of money but i dont think thats my problem anymore.

I agree with both of your points. However, that doesn't make it okay to say lashon hara about any Rav. Even if you don't know who it is, the person who asked him does, and you are putting the Rav down in his eyes.
