There will be 4 tiers in the new program.  The current Plat level is just tier 3.  They don't match to Plat1K with SWU's.
United doesn't either give SWU's when matching 1K. Still 35k miles required for the challenge...

Na, I'd say even if you did it now, you could do it again with the new program.

Perhaps they figure that its already restrictive enough w/o making it once in a lifetime...or they estimate that the next big merger/bankruptcy is just 5 years down the road :-)

That may be difficult, considering this policy: "To keep Elite status for the balance of the 2011* program year, you will need to complete a specific number of flights operated by Continental, Continental Express, Continental Connections, United, or United Express within the 90 day timeframe."

Adding a family member's FFN rarely works on the actual member carrier. (i.e onepass number on Continental flight) unless the initials are identical. Whether it will continue to work for United flights remains doubtful as the integration moves forward.

If they adopt Uniteds policy it'll probably be 10k for Silver, 17.5k for Gold and 35k for Platinum.
For 2012 Plat will only require 25K flown miles in 3 months:

While at it, what are your thoughts here.

I matched to UA 1K, requiring 35k within 90 days.

[I didn't make it, as I thought that UA/CO flight #, are enough, but apparently it needed to be UA/CO metal.]

My status should have expired begin of Jan 2012, however, as their merger program stalled a bit, I'm still 1K b"H.

Now, I did reach the "new" 25k threshold.

Will I fall under the new 25k rule, and/or, will they calculate that I did not reach the threshold in time, and retroactively downgrade me?
