All jokes aside, the moral of this thread is that you should not trust someone just because he/she/they/it is a DDFer. Investigate before you put yourself at risk. Take into consideration the number of posts and the content of those posts (and your gut feeling).

My personal experience was always great even with newish accounts. The same way that I was trusted when I started not that long ago. But i never did anything over $25 with new guys.
But definitely long time posters that gain from the forms or are helpful on the forums wouldn't want to ruin their reputation..
But as always to every rule there is a exception...

I don't post that often even though I have been a ddf member since 2010. I only post when I think I have something meaningful to say that will benefit all ddf members. I have come to trust many people on this forum(even some who don't trust me). I have tried my best to help people wherever and whenever I can. I am not afraid to publicize something for fear that it will be killed. If people did things in moderation, and didn't totally abuse a deal, we would not have as many issues as we do. I'm not particularly fond of someone saying "I know something and am telling you but you can't tell anyone else. If we know something that another ddf member would benefit from, we should not be put in shackles and have to be mummed up.
There are many good people on DDF who have helped many of us for no other reason but to do the right thing and be collegiate and I for one really appreciate those people. Even though I never met most of them, I feel perfectly comfortable pming them for advice and assistance. Most of these people have resonded to my pms and gave a hand.
To name a few, I've dealt with marco polo, ajk, jj1000, cv/cm, mesh, cosmohoot, dr. moose, pbaruch, chucksterace, whyme, HDS just to name a few.
Just my 2 cents!

When you say scammed by another DDFer, do you mean its the 2nd time (or more) that you've been scammed or that you were scammed by a fellow DDFer?
ALOL! my favorite comment so far.

I am relatively new to this forum and have also come to appreciate the help of several of the aforementioned DDFers. I agree with the notion of a rating system. I hope this does get put into place to help DDFers feel 'safer' with their transactions and dealings with other DDFers. Do the mods agree?

Doubt it. It's been tried before & those threads are gone.

Does it need to be a thread? Can't it be built into the site? Similar to reputation points on  etc?

There's not going to be a rating because DDF isn't ebay.

The GFST forum is a perk of DDF, not the point.

Nor am I going to do mediation further than supplying an email address or perhaps suspending the offending member if it's a clear cut case.  Further than that, go to a din torah or court.

If you want to start a thread of good/bad experiences, go right ahead.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

that's a good idea. If we do it, then can we make 2 threads? One for good experiences and one for bad?
