I had a ddf'r scam me, but since I didn't lose anything I didn't make a big deal out of it. Just got publicly embarrassed as result but that I could handle.

Why not write SNs of members with whom big transactions have been made as references in our signature?

Yea, it can be quite annoying for very active members. I guess people can keep a handy list of references they can send each others before making a transaction.

i was scammed by a newbie named uniq0 back 2 and a half years ago, he sold me a southwest gift card worth $500 for a $300 amazon Gift card, it seemed fishy so i only agreed to pay him after using the giftcard to book tickets.
I thought i was in the clear, but two days before the flight i get an email from SW saying that my payment was invalid. Seeing as per the T&C's you can't buy or sell GC's they were unwilling to help me, the best they offered me was the original price on the current tickets even though they had gone up drastically.

I still have no idea how the guy managed to get a code to work on the verification system and work on site to book tickets but later not work. Dan told me he was from china or something, and was blocked right away.
I learnt my lesson.

Any ideas as to how he pulled it off?

although it's not legally binding
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Stupid idea. It will just get cluttered and full of slander. I think the old fashioned way is fine. Out of 1 million posts we have only had a few bad experiences. Everyone you make a deal with, regardless of have much rep they have on DDF, should give references.
Agreed.
(That's my version of saying +1, but it sounds more elegant.)

But jeez, I went into this thread expecting a juicy read, and am sorely disappointed.

+1

Right. "Hi, Amex. I paid $13 for DDSCLE and I enjoyed the refreshments, learned ways to earn $5K each year, and ways to save an additional $20K on vacations.
However, I only met AussieBochur and one of Dan's brothers so I'm not satisfied with DDSCLE and need to do a charge back."    ::)
You veteran DDFers take it for granted, but the simple story was, "Hi Amex. Who in the world is DDSCLE? I deny the charge." (Maybe the abbreviation thread should be handed out by the seminar  ;) )

Yes.
-He paid with a stolen CC
-The owner disputed charge.
-Southwest canceled the gift card.
