its not the amount of posts in particular. Its if someone posted a lot you usually get a feeling of the person.

That and he has a reputation to protect...

In truth I look at their post as well. You can tell alot by someone's posts.

That's all I go by.
By that standard, would you do business with CM? Quick poll.

In a good way (Marco polo, chuksterace)
Or in a bad trolling type of way (TimT, Meshuganer ;) )

Marco Polo and chucksterace are very helpful. I am glad you mentioned them. Also ilherman. Of course, there are many people who have great content to their posts and share lots of wisdom but the above mentioned stand out as people who will spend time helping you.

Maybe there's no definite way to know who's not trustworthy, but if a DDF'er invests his time into the forum (not posts per se), IME, they definitely are trustworthy.

I definitely wouldn't put money on it although it is possible
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

OP has been on the forum since 2010. I don't think he/she would do a deal with some fly-by-night brand new account.

I am here longer than that, and have sold stuff (maybe bought too) from some fly-by-night brand new account. Not everyone is here to scam you, you gotta be careful though.

could just be a quick and low cost RC issue. Blantant and not honest, but probably low cost, so OP was caught off guard?

I would obviously be more trusting and take more risks with established members but I've done plenty of business with new guys. Use common sense. Trust but verify.

Speaking as one of those with low post counts, I've had only positive experiences buying and selling on the forum so far. But I do it CM's way  ;)

I assume with some fly-by-night brand new account you make them pay before you give the product

So it should be scalable. Not saying that it will be (easy) implemented but criteria for example:

Hat tips 5%
Post count 15%
positive feedback for helpful posts 30%
positive feedback for business done with 50%
Would the $2 trick work on this too?

If I would sell united club passes for example then yes, payment is sent and then the passes are mailed out.
