Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Can I apply for this card, do the spend all within the first billing cycle, have the points post and then cancel to avoid annual fee?
Will Chase claw back?
Thanks.

Once points are in your Marriott account, they will not be clawed back.

They actually do have a record if you extend a certificate. That's why I can't extend it again. They say I already did. Will probably lose the night because it expires in the middle of next month.

I think 6 months. Not 100% sure. I called a number of times for an extension and they noted my record each time

Is this card more worth it now bc of the ~30K SPG points signup bonus?

not necessarily IMO the conversion rate of spg to Marriott is pretty good however to go from Marriott to spg might not be so worthwhile. But it's still a good card to get and its not under 5/24 so why not go for it.

You are correct if you need SPG and will not qualify for the Amex

I'm going to need a second card for MBM with Reserve anyway and I just found referral link in wife's email which would make signup 97K. Tempting. You also have to wonder if this card has a future after compete merger or if there will be that Chase SPG card...

There is never going to be a Chase SPG card.
SPG will be dead in less than 2 years.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

Is there a trick to churning them? Now would be a good time to let your loyal DDF members know.  :)
