I think that officially Marriott allows you to "gift" a room to other people.
I did it once and had no issues.

So while there is still a purpose in transferring points between accounts, I think that just booking for the other person is the simplest.

My bro made me a reservation and when I came they let me check in but they asked when he was coming and said they would need his passport before check out.

I'm talking about using your points to book in your friends name, so that they can stay there.

If you'lol log-in to your Marriott Rewards account during a stay you might find the 70k/2k offer.
I had it on my previous stay (4 months ago) and the link still works.
I try my best :-\

Is that link only good for the account that stayed or can it be shared? And can it be used more than once

It's good for everyone and can be used multiple time but per the forum rules I can't share it here :-\ I was just pointing out that during a stay one can get the 70k.

There should be a link available on FT. I used that about a month ago.

They matched me to 80k a few weeks ago

I signed up using the 70k link, and asked to be matched to 80k.
They replied that when I spend 3k I should SM them.

When I SMed after the 3k spend they replied that they'll be adding 30k!

Must've thought I had the 50k offer.

Anyone have experience with cancelling card after AF posts and still getting free night?
(I once got United card club passes right after cancelling card, but I didn't intend to do that)

I think I just had the same thing happen to me-- I signed up with the 70k offer, and asked to be matched to the 80k offer. I got a response saying that I had 50k, and they will get me to 80k once I spend 3k on the card, so I wonder if I will end up with 100k points.

Excellent, so data points indicating that SM for match is currently working.
I'll try soon and report back.

You guys specifically asked to be matched to the 8th offer?
