50,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months:
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/marriott1/

Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

If you don't mind sharing what were the time frames for SMing?
Were they done after spend? Before Points posting? and so on.
I want to do the same thing now.
Was approved on this 14th, I believe, so the 1st statement hasn't closed yet.
SM'd the first time, (before I even activated the card) on Fri. I think.
SM'd second time yesterday. Right now, only have $200 posted transaction and another $800-$900 pending. Don't think it had anything to do with that though.

Just FYI:

Applied about a month ago for the public 50K/1K offer, SM'd a few days ago and was matched for the 70K/2K offer.
Yesterday, I saw that some were matched for 80K/3K, so I SM'd and was just matched.

If I decide It's not worth it for me, right now, to spend 1K for another 10K, I could always do the 70K/2K, I guess.

Thanks for data point, gonna go with that.

Is that the only way to combine points (from a spouse) if there is a reservation in place?
It's a royal pain in the neck though you both need to fax in documentation IIRC.

Nowadays, fax is not harder than email. (Using an online service)

Was just responding to his claim that you need a fax and it's a pain. IME it was easy and email worked fine.

After statement closes. (If you complete spend within 7 business days of statement close, you'll have to wait to next statement close)

For all cards, all companies, it's relatively unheard of to claw-back miles after they were deposited.

Anyone convert the category 1-4 certificate to points (without having a price mistake reservation as a bargaining chip). I called up and got a no go. I'm going to HUCA but wanted to know if anyone might have some more guidance so I'm not just shooting in the dark.
