50,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months:

Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

Cmiiw, but this is an anniversary night for the first year and you're discussing second year af...
What are YOU talking about?
1st year anniversary = beginning of 2nd year = AF

Cool thanks a lot.  Anyone have any advise re the effect on credit score to close out this card (25k credit line) after a year?  Am I better off holding on to the card for now and reaping the annual free nights in exchange for the annual fee as opposed to closing it out now and taking a potential hit to credit score (and let's assume that I'll be looking to take out a mortgage in about 2 years).

Your best bet is to read around a bit. It's all been discussed all over DDF.

Yes but they won't take away free night if you choose not to pay for second year. (because the night Is for first year)

You're right they won't take it away.
But the night is for the 2nd year.

not sure if i'm special or this is common knowledge and i just found out but i called them to cancel my card and was told that if i keep it open, they will give me 5k bonus points if i use the card 15x within the next 90 days, starting next Monday. i would still be charged the $85 af. i told them i'll think about it. i have till 12/1/15 to close it.
is this standard?
can i press for more bonus points or is it set?
if i ask for the promotion and cancel, anyone have experience with the points staying there?

I still have the 80k Marriott offer in my account under bonuses. Thing is when I open link my Marriott number is sitckied to application. Two questions: a) Will applying again get the bonus even though I already received it once with this number?  b) if my sister applies through my account to get the 80k is it ok to use her info even though its diff than the account info?

A) you should. I did. B)if you change the number in the app, the offer will go away.
