50,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months:
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/marriott1/

Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

There's no 24 month rule for approval.
I was told twice already, that that's why I was declined

Just getting bonus again ? If so why was Riley denied using that as cause .

Correct. Probably because the rep couldn't find any dumber sounding reason.

Sorry, but it's not an official rule.

Seems like now , it means what it says. Didn't have that language when I
got my last CSP 9 months ago . Or 17 ,or 25 or 36 months ago either
IIRC .

What I'm not understanding is, if the reason for the original denial is the 24 month rule, then when a rep. sees that, then why would they approve me. To the recon rep. it's against the rules.
Unless your saying it doesn't come up in the system as such, and it's the rep. saying it in their own, although it didn't sound like that on the phone.

There might be a c&p option at a real low category hotel. Not sure if you can use Marriott points for magazines, but that could be another option.

You can book it directly for yourself. (Only with points, the free night certificate can't be gifted)

My husband has had the Marriott credit card for over a year now but we do not want to keep paying the annual fee. Any reason to keep this specific card? Also, we received the free cat 1-5 night on the anniversary but did not use it yet. Can we still use it after canceling the card?

70k+7.5k + free anniversary night is slightly better because first af is waived
