50,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months:
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/marriott1/

Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

Just in case this affects anyone else, I just recently churned this card and last night got a letter from Chase that since I have qualified for bonus before, I am not eligible again. I freaked out, checked the original T&C which state that as long as I do not have card, or received bonus in past 24 months (usual language), I am eligible. I think this is my first churn, so I got nervous that they're on to me, or Chase is cracking down, etc. Then this morning, I called, and rep said they're getting a million calls bc they sent out a bunch of letters by mistake, including mine.  Phew 8)
Are you sure it's not a mistake, my stmt closed I spent 3k, however I did not receive the 80,000 bonus points

just received an interesting new offer from marriot $200 statement credit after first purchase & 40,000 points after $3,000 spend. Not sure if it's better than the 80,000 public offer just throwing it out there in case anybody's interested

I got the 80k + 7.5k in March and I have until June 9 for bonus spend.
1) If I sign up an authorized user do I have to wait for card activation to make 1 purchase and get the 7.5k or can I do it as soon as I get off the phone.
2) Do all the 80k offers come with a cat. 1-4 certificate upon activation? I don't see it in my account.
3) I completed the spend yesterday. Can I set the statement date for the 1st of the month (currently the 25th) and have this statement close after just one week, so I can get the 80k points sooner?

I got the personal Marriott about a month ago, called in about a week ago when they announced the 100k business offer.

The rep asked me for details, then said they would match after 5k (took my word for it without realizing I was talking about a business version). Called back a few days later after meeting increased spend, they referred it to the marketing department who approved the match.

Recon worked for me by moving credit, required some HUCA.

ETA: Just realized, that was before 5/24 was broadened.

Hhmmmm!! I don't think that would work for me either, since  I still don't have any chase cards whatsoever

Yes. Call marriott  not chase. Sometimes  they extend it for a few months.

DP. They wouldn't extend the free night due to having closed the card.
