Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

They can't transfer per se, IME. If your credit exposure is maxed out, they can reduce personal credit and increase business credit accordingly.
Who do you think you are fooling? You think you are going to pull a quick one on your Creator? Good luck with that.

They were probably right about that, but too late to do anything about that now.

You should get an email. My DW got hers a few days before the annual fee from chase and then another email from Marriott after the AF posted.

Yep, did this and got Marriott Gold status with zero Marriott points. I then transferred my husband's orphan Marriott points to his SPG and his points to my SPG. Might as well put them in the account with status.

I am Marriott Platinum and SPG Gold, I transferred spouse's 300k SPG points to my SPG then all to Marriott so well have them in the Marriott Platinum account and left my points in my SPG account for now which was upped to Platinum.
I was the Best, still the Best, and will always be the Best.

Is the AF worth the $95 fee? for someone who has a 5/24 problem, is it worth keeping this card and paying the AF?

Closing the card won't resolve the problem. Having 5 cards opened within 2 years regardless of their status now is 5/24.

I am aware that closing the card will not solve my 5/24 problem, it was a question of is the AF worth paying or not worth the benefits of the card, either due to the future with SPG merge or with the free night? I am assuming, if I close the card I will not be able to open it again in the future

Unlike the Hyatt cat 1-4 anniversary cert, I find the Marriott 1-5 cert to be way less useful (inflation of award chart and all). If you're going to struggle to find a use for your cert, especially that which is over the value of the annual fee on the Marriott card, it may be best to cancel... Do you have an SPG card that will, in some form of another, probably become a Marriott card?

Got an offer for 2 free nights=200 statement credit=7500 points for AU. Is this better or worse than the 80000 points offer?
