50,000 points after spending $1,000 in 3 months:
http://www.dansdeals.com/go/marriott1/

Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

Closing the card won't resolve the problem. Having 5 cards opened within 2 years regardless of their status now is 5/24.
I am aware that closing the card will not solve my 5/24 problem, it was a question of is the AF worth paying or not worth the benefits of the card, either due to the future with SPG merge or with the free night? I am assuming, if I close the card I will not be able to open it again in the future

Unlike the Hyatt cat 1-4 anniversary cert, I find the Marriott 1-5 cert to be way less useful (inflation of award chart and all). If you're going to struggle to find a use for your cert, especially that which is over the value of the annual fee on the Marriott card, it may be best to cancel... Do you have an SPG card that will, in some form of another, probably become a Marriott card?

Got an offer for 2 free nights=200 statement credit=7500 points for AU. Is this better or worse than the 80000 points offer?

Depends if free nights have category ceiling.

Just got an email from Marriott about some deals they're having this month.
Some are stupid, some are stay-based, but one is 1500 points for linking Marriott acct to Twitter, FB, and Instagram.

is the 150k card a new card? or the same as the old one? can I be matched if I already got the 80k from the most recent offer?

I wouldn't match.

Spend 3k for the 80k bonus, and spend the rest 27k on spg card.

Yep, DoC had the same conclusion.
