Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Isn't there a general rule with Chase requiring 24 months since having/applying for a card to re-apply and get bonus?
I am sometimes accused of overthinking things. I am still mulling over whether that accusation has merit.

What isn’t so clear is whether you can upgrade for the 20k, close the upgraded card a week later, apply a week later for the new card and receive the 100k bonus (assuming its 24 months since original application)?
no its 24 months since you received the bonus
So if you got the card about a year ago and upgrade you will at least have to wait another year to reapply, right? The only question is if you already have the card for over two years, right?

I don't think anyone knows this for sure

That is not a question. If you didn't get the bonus for 2 years you are eligible for the bonus now

That quite a big fix...the discussion is if you have the card now...is upgrading for 20k can postpone when you can apply for the new card and get the much bigger 100k.

No, I think 30 days means they are still processing the application, better to wait it out .

Could use some serious help here...

I got the new Marriott card about a month ago. I've almost spent 5K (probably will hit the spend by tomorrow) but I need the bonus points ASAP. I was dumb and in my excitement I booked a Marriott Category 8 for my honeymoon, thinking I would get the points on time. My statement closes August 9th, and that's the first night of my reservation... Anyway that I can get the points before then???

I know according to Dan, you can upgrade the Nights+Flights by paying the difference (if you get a cat 1-5 cert you can the difference in price for a cat 7 in points). Can you do that with the anniversary night as well?

Now that this card and SPG merged, are we getting one card instead of two?

Both chase and amex sites say that starting August 26th the bonus counter is reset by any Marriott card issuer. Any posts about this?

Posted this on another thread but figured that it applies here too:

My wife hit the 5k spend threshold for Marriott 100k point offer within the past few days but her most recent statement closed on the 4th of August before hitting the bonus amount. I want to be able to transfer the full amount into my SPG before the merger because I am Gold and would be limited to 50k after the merger. Is it possible to call chase and have my next statement close today (9 days after my previous statement) and then have the points post and transfer before the merger?

Any DPs on this? Upgraded mine bc I'm well over 5/24, but can theoretically apply for wife from scratch so don't want to ruin that for 20K.

Got rejected for Marriott business bonus offer because I go it on the Marriott consumer card. Anyone experience this? I am being told Marriott only allows one bonus per person.
