I close this card 16 months ago & wasn't able to use my free night certificate because i never made plans and the cert was expired. Is there a way to open up a new account with the same name & address but different email? I'll need a Free night in order to cover my upcoming stay for free

Can someone please help?

Did you try calling Marriott? I got my certificate extended, but its still active so it might be different

Just an FYI to all:

I got this card because I wanted to stay at Marriott Marquis in NYC for sentimental reasons. Last week, we used the free 1-4 night in RI at a place 30 minutes from Newport, RI (link below). They upgraded us to a 2 BR/2 Bath suite which was lovely and included free breakfast. Anyone able to make the trip, I would say was well worth it.

Good place to go from Brooklyn for 3 days/2 nights? I have a free night from getting the CC. Points for second night.

Just a status note. Signed up for this card on sunday got approved right away, just received the free night via email and didn't even spend anything yet.

I also got the free night. That's just for getting the card, not the spending

IINM the free night is a bonus from Marriott while the points are a bonus from Chase

We had a good time, but there's a limited amount of things to do in RI. We squeezed 2 days out of Newport; you'd have to push or try a different city for 3 days, IMHO.

Question: at the one year anniversarry, i got a free night in my account (haven't used it yet). A little later I got charged AF of $85.00. If I close card to avoid fee, will I loose the free night?

I got my certificate and then closed my card before getting hit with the fee. I still have my certificate

You can do a status match to Marriott and your status may help with an upgrade.

You would probably have to request it online beforehand.

They said their single rooms were all full. No objection. Didn't even have a chance to ask for upgrade as Silver Elite members.

You have to do a status match beforehand.

Thanks. Might be an idea as the drive isn't too bad from Brooklyn if I remember correctly. Any other ideas?
