Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Once you get the anniversary Category 1-5 certificate, it stays in your account, even if you cancel your card and don't pay the AF.

Thanks. Might be an idea as the drive isn't too bad from Brooklyn if I remember correctly. Any other ideas?

There may have been one or two near Monsey area.

there are a few near monsey. (mahwah, montvale, paramus) But, I would hardly consider that area a "place to go" plus why waste the free night on a cat. 2 or 3 fairfield or courtyard. If your just looking for a nice relaxing local place, I would highly recommend the Residence Inn Plainview, NY. It's right central LI, located right near Jones beach and drivable to eastern LI (montauk etc.) I went there for shabbos a few weeks ago, we davened at YI of Plainview. There is also a local pizza place under VHQ and I think there is a meat place. On sunday we checked out a local county fair which was enjoyed by the adults and kids alike, and then went to an aviation museum  nearby.
The hotel itself, while very unassuming from the outside is quite nice on the interior- lobby and suites. we were upgraded to a 1 bedroom 1.5 bath executive suite with a full kitchen and balcony, while my friend was upgraded to the 2 bedroom suite.

Didn't Chase have 2 Marriott cards? On the website it only has the Premier which is weird because I just got off the phone with rep about waiving the AF of the premier and she said I can downgrade it to the regular.

i signed up for the 70k offer, i sm'd to match to the 80k offer and i got a response that as a courtesy they will give me an extra 20k after i spend $3000 and i should sm back when i reach that spend.
70+20 = 90
do i have a chance of getting the extra 10k or will they realize that its a mistake
Is the 80k offer still available?

I applied for the Marriott card a few months ago for me and my wife using Dan's 70k after 1k spent offer, I got matched to the 80k offer on both,
Now I just sm'd that I referred a friend (my wife) and I want a bonus, they verified with me the other account and gave me 10k bonus Marriott points
So it seems that you can sign up with Dan's affiliate link and still get a referral bonus

You got matched to the 80k offer + 10k for referral bonus? So total of 90k?

Yes
But technically the extra 10k had nothing to do with a sign up bonus

I just got matched to the 80k after spending $3k in 3 months.
How do you get the additional 10k referral?

Sm Chase that you referred a friend
That will ask for a name, address, and phone number
Once they verify that he signed up they'll give you the bonus
