I might be missing something obvious here, but wondering. The marriott has the 70,000 bonus right now and the United explorer has 50,000. So if im only going to sign up for one now, shouldnt it be the marriott? It can be used for miles instead of hotels, right?

Can you refer someone to this card?    I searched on Marriott.com and couldn't find anything
I tried to refer someone. Apparently chase only allows certain people to do so and/or certain cards.

Marriott can only be redeemed (at a normal? rate) at Marriott hotels and can't be used for travel (at a normal rate, if at all) OTOH united can be used for great flying redemptions.

Depends what you need.... Objectively the United is probably worth more... But if you want to stay at a hotel, go for the Marriott

I think you can convert Marriott points into United miles. Except the conversion rate may not make it worth it.

At a 4:1-2:1 ratio, pretty bad IMHO.

+1 I received the following response:

I personally would use the points. It's about a .7 value, pretty decent for Marriott IMHO.
