Users are reporting that Chase (ask via SM) will agree to match the 70k offer (or even 80k, apparently) if you spend $3,000.

Is there a specific offer number or something else I need to quote to them, when asking to be matched?

Here is what I wrote them:

Hi,

I was approved for my card about 2 weeks ago for the
70,000 bonus points. My friend told me that he was
offered a signup bonus of 80,000 points after he
spent $3,000. Can I be matched for that
bonus offer?

Thank You

What's better to do? I received an offer from Marriot to sign up friends and get 10,000 per signup up to five. I figured my wife could sign up. I get 10,000, she gets 50,000 after 1,000 spend. Or, I think I saw a 70,000 for a 2,000 spend. Now I see folks are requesting 80,000 for a 3,000 spend. Which would be better? And of course one year free, then can chuck the card. Also, does anyone know if my wife and I can give the points to each other.

Why can't you do the refer a friend and then send them an SM to match?

Very difficult to transfer with marriott. They allow spouses to transfer but only at the time of the reservation.... And IIRC you need to fax in some sort of proof of address.

I think ur not right, because while they're a reservation in place they let "everyone" transfer points spouses can always transfer.
Again I "think" so.

It is my wife I would give it to and we do live at the same address. So what's the better plan?

Don't think that's true. How do you think you go about transferring from spouse?

Can you please explain how to transfer points from one account to another?

If there is a reservation in place then anyone can transfer to anyone.

What does that mean? I need to make a reservation and don't have enough points in one account.
Other than calling up to make the reservation and transfer points, is there any way to transfer?

you can make a reservation online without the points. But you need to call, fill out and send them a form in order to transfer points.

Got it thanks.
Isn't it just easier to call up to make the reservation and transfer points?

I guess, when I was looking into doing it the rep made it sound pretty easy & simple.
