I understand all that, I’m just a little surprised at them shutting great customers down for a 1-time offense, even if it was fixed immediately. There could be many other reasons besides business going under. I understand it if it happens numerous times. They have other options, including slashing the CL.
Your mistake is that you categorize the second one as a great customer. He's a terrible customer.

Thats not what they say at the end of the phone call. :)
But seriously, are you saying they’re looking for any reason to shut us all down ? Then why keep approving more cards & credit ? They know we’re not going to become “good” customers with another 4 cards.

Possibly. But you are likely to eventually have debt. And then the more cards you have the more.likely that one of rhem will have the debt.
Unfortunately, many people have debt on higher Apr cards which earn points, even if they have other lines of credit available with lower interest rates.

Does it still work?
If it benefits even just one fellow DDFer, its worth posting it.

Now take someone else who’s had a great relationship with the bank for years. Once he made a payment not realizing that a check deposited days earlier hadn’t cleared yet. Relationship over.
I made a mistake when entering my Bank Account details and had a payment returned. I fixed it immediately, but based on this conversation, I'm getting nervous.

According to some here you’re a big risk to the bank & should be shut down.

Who said a person should be shutdown for a returned payment?

Tell it to the banks.

i agree i dont get it either.

is cycling a huge trigger for shut downs?

i have a 7 amex cards that ive spent close to 300k this year. been cycling a little each month, maybe 1 or 2 times on like 1 or 2 cards. nothing crazy. you think that's an issue?

they claim im a "valued customer" i guess you are until they hit you over the head with a sledgehammer and its lights out for you!

my reserve delta card, i want to make platinum so i spent like $40,000 in 2 months and orig it got reviewed for gaming the system, even though no pop up and miles posted to my statement first two months. now they promised me my on chat that my miles was in transfer as of yesterday. then it still didnt post so i chatted gain and they finally told me on aug 27 my account was into yet another review to see if all myb purchases in the promo period was legit (they are). and that itll take another 6-8 weeks..very frustrating. its been 2 months and i havent gotten neither the 75k bonus,10k mqm bonus nor the 15k mqm boost. also i didnt get the 40k miles or so that i actually earned on spend.

you think is should be worried on that review to see if my purchases was legit? they were, im just thinking i did so much spending in such a small period of time.

amex has become so strict its not even funny.
