-1 someone is bound to notice if you add your name and as bad as it is to get a reputation of doing bad business it's even worse doing bad business and fooling everyone about it
If the wiki get's 10s of names (or even 100s as the OP intends) it wil become extremely impractical to start monitoring who made which edit...

True but if I see my name next to some guy I never did business with I would be really pissed and make a ruckus about it
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

true, but if I focus on the same 10 names that lubaby just listed and then continue to see who else aside from lubaby recommends
in that same group of 10 people again and again, then I'd be more likely to trust them. Especially with a hotel room and mini-bar.

If Aussiebochur is the one that got married a few months ago, then a bunch of us know who he is and can vouch for him, too.
(Therefore, should we include those who people know personally?)

It's at least better than nothing no? If you are about to sell something to X, check if X has any references on here. If yes, and you want extra security, PM a couple of those people and confirm. Slightly annoying but not a completely valueless resource is it?

definitely true and worthwhile if there is a risk of more than a few dollars
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

That might work for someone willing to go through the hassle...

Agreed. However - it is way too easy for a person to start making himself several usernames and listing those relationships as successful in the wiki. It might sound farfetched but is really not that difficult to do. Especially with ppl willing to risk doing that for one bigger size deal. You only need one of those things to happen to basically nullify this entire thread and on the contrary get ppl to blame such a thread for inviting such behavior for ppl looking to scam and cheat.

If I see someone with 5 recommendations and they all have 0 or a few posts I wouldn't consider that much of a recommendation

If you don't feel comfortable trusting someone ask him for references.

Theoretically, yes, it's easy for someone to do that, and they can make 4 or 5 usernames each with thousands of posts, which will take many many hours.

But it's still better than NOT having this resource. If we're gonna get scammed, let's make them work for it.

What about 50-150?

Again, its not that hard to do over the course of a few weeks. Not saying I wouldn't look in here before doing a deal, just playing devils advocate to make sure that we are aware of the negatives of this as well.

true. And I think it's a big difference if they and/or those who vouch for them have been around since 2010, 2013, 2014 vs. pple who just made new accounts in Feb 2015.

I'm still not convinced the surrent system is so broken. Out of the 100s (maybe 1000s) of transactions that happen on DDF I only remember a small handful of guys who claim they gut burnt (and of those the majority got resolved quickly).

Just use common sense, trust but verify and you should be fine...

yes, same here. (Helped with hyatt diamond -- thank you) However, this thread and wiki can help to make that method more efficient, overall.

Or just do Chaim's method

that works when PayPal comes in before a trek out to the Post Office, however all my AP were instigated by me. I trusted him 100%, but I started each and every one.

You need a $ amount. Do you think a deal for 960k UR and a RC are the same?
