Pretty cool, but I normally drive and park. Subwaying to the helipad would be annoying.
Definitely not for everyone, but a cool option.

First time ride $99 may be more mainstream......

While I'll probably never actually use it, it is a very cool option.

The US helicopter used to advertise $99 fares too, and see how they went.

This is $99 for first time. Could be different.

US helicopter had a schedule and would fly with only 1 person. It doesn't look like that would happen here.

True, so you only go if it fills.

Meh.

So I was considering using them for my flight next month. Signed up for the beta and got the flight request form today.

First of all, the $99 fares are only on the 12:30 and 1:00 flights, M-F only, ands to JFK only. If you need to go at a normal time, a weekend, or to EWR, it's $219.

Secondly, no baggage:

Baggage:
The Bell 407 is the sports car of helicopters. Just like most sports cars, it is built for speed and performance. You are welcome to bring one small carry on weighing no more than 25 lbs.  Excess luggage transportation will be available soon.

I sent in a request for Sunday afternoon anyway, let's see what happens.

You think lucky would've done some basic research before pimping them like that
At that price point it's not like it's being marketed as an option for the masses

So they solved the luggage issue - you have to buy a seat for each suitcase ::).

No, thanks.

Oh  . BTW if you're looking to go from Manhattan to EWR. The best and quickest way is via PATH train from Penn station for about $17. Takes about 25 minutes and they allow unlimited luggage

Think ur talking about NJ transit. Path train is a lot cheaper but requires a connecting in Newark to take a bus to the airport.

In any case I'm looking for Monsey-JFK. I figured for $99 I'll make a (significant) detour. But not if I have to pay hundreds for luggage...
