The shadow of my finger makes the lighter gray look darker and more similar to the darker gray.

It's simple. Think of it this way. You see a tint of blue in the white. If someone is seeing the white as blue he's obviously seeing the colors darker than you see them exaggerating the bit of blue that you see. If he's seeing the light blue so dark that it looks royal blue it stands to reason that the gold will darken until it looks black...

Pretty wild. Was convinced it was white and gold until i covered the corner of the pic. Now I only see black and blue.

Block out the white light on the right with your hand and the dress turns black and blue.
