Alaska cruises
« on: March 01, 2015, 10:33:28 PM »
My wife and I are looking to book a cruise for August 2015, but do not want to pay for Kosherica.  Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Has anyone redeemed FF points for a cruise?
If so, utilizing what program.

FF points for a cruise? Are you talking about cruising at 35k feet or on the ocean? Seriously though I've never heard of something like that. How'd it be possible?

That's not a helpful answer.

Here's a general rundown: http://traveltips.usatoday.com/use-airplane-miles-cruises-33664.html

You can use Hilton points: http://hhonors3.hilton.com/en/earn-use-points/travel/using/index.html
You can modify your original post. The modify button is right next to the quote button.

Well what it is is a way of getting more info from the OP given that it sounded like he heard something about using points for a cruise. And, to be honest with you, that Hilton link basically means that no, points don't work for a cruise. 250$ for 120k points? How in the world is that useful? You could sell for far higher than that. The best example of what I'm saying is the rental car redemption quoted there. For all intents and purposes there's no efficient way of redeeming FF points for car rentals because given their low transfer rates it's not worth it.

By saying "do not want to pay for Kosherica", does that mean you want to go with them, just not pay, or you are willing to go on a different cruise line?

My wife did Princess with her Mom and had a great time, while my in-laws must have done it themselves another five times on different lines.

Kosherica's Alaska cruise prices are more than double the cost of a non-kosher cruise for which you reserve kosher food. I have taken Royal Caribbean cruise to Bahamas and had Weberman's meals which were more than fine.
Wanted recommendations on the different cruise lines and peoples experiences.
