The lte speed of 8mbps is more than adequate for most people. That's fast enough for streaming video seamlessly

I can't argue with you, as the phone I'm using is a Nokia Lumia 635 which is a cheap phone that isn't too quick. that I got from cricket for $75 with a $75 rebate + $25 citi price rewind, which left me with a profit of $25

Also keep in mind cricket changes handset prices usually once or twice a month, so if you order and the price drops within 60-90 days most credit cards will refund you the difference.

Beware if you want to walk in to a cricket store to pick up one of their free after rebate phones, they are often OOS. I spoke to the rep in the store on Ditmas and 5th in Brooklyn, he said that some of the free phones never even arrived to begin with. Probably a good idea to order online instead, unless you're bringing your own device and don't want to wait for the SIM to ship.

i have cricket for a few months already and they are great ! its better from sprint/t-mobile dono about verizon
you get 10GB LTE for $40 per month (with 5 lines) but if you are smart you can do what im doing... i start the month on the $20 plan, after using up the 2.5GB i switch to the $30 plan and i get another 5GB ..! after i use up the 5GB i switch back to the $20 plan and i get another 2.5GB !! at the end of the game i pay only $25 per month for 10GB LTE ! because i was half of the month on the $20 plan and  half on the $30 plan they charge a total of $25!
i dont know how many times you can change plan but 2 times for sure! i do that trick already for a few months
Thanks for the idea it worked perfectly I was at my 2.5 gb limit with 11 days left I changed it to the 5 gb plan got charged $3 and change and got a full 5 gb

How come it only gives me the option of an additional 1gb for $10!?

You are looking at optional features to add to your monthly plan you have to change the actual monthly plan by clicking on view details change plan and change it to a higher monthly plan you will start over the data allowance but the extra charge will be prorated

So I should do this only after I use my 2.5 gb and then again after I use the 5gb? Or can I do it all at once and it will add up?

Also, any risk of them shutting the account if this is abused monthly?

You do it only after you finish your 2.5 gb if not you will lose what ever is not used
I don't know about the risk of being shut down this is the first time I tried it

How is cricket's service?
When I used other AT&T mvno's, the wait time till an outgoing call started ringing was about 20 seconds
And people calling me also had to wait a long time till it started ringing by me. (It seems that this is how AT&T punishes their resellers)
Anyone has experience with cricket?

I had that issue with h2o, no issues with cricket though

There definitely is a slight delay not 20 seconds maybe 3-5 seconds for outgoing

I know
But that does not make it better than AT&T go phone which is not the best service (vs postpaid)

So, I've read most of this thread and I'm sold. Transferring from H2o to Cricket.

I'll be in a cricket store tomorrow but apparently it's cheaper to buy a sim online in advance.

Where can I buy a sim online for cheap?

One issue with cricket is android updates. When a new version or security update comes out, cricket /Att doesn't release it to many phones. Besides that, it's great.
