Club Gold Benefits for Hertz Israel
« on: March 15, 2011, 08:36:03 AM »
I rented a couple times this past month at Hertz in Israel. No points posted so I called Hertz CS in the USA who said you can't earn points for rentals in Israel...any tips?

I did get a free 5 class upgrade both times so I'm not that disapointed...I wouldn't mind the miles though considering the rentals totaled 2 weeks!

How did you make the reservation? Most rental companies wont give miles on special rates given by Israeli travel agents

They usually have guaranteed upgrades, but if you can pull it off without them, you're better off with a US res

Hertz Israel confirmed to me that there is no points or benefits, because I went through an agent.

YudiG - Any more recent experience with Hertz in Israel and upgrading from reserved car class?  Were you 5* with the 5 class upgrade?  And from what class to what class did they upgrade you?  I am PC now with Hertz, and although I have usually rented from Avis Israel through their New Jersey office, I am considering that the chance for an upgrade on Hertz may be better than sticking with Avis and just getting the class reserved.  Thought?

I have reported http://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=8365.msg157064#msg157064 that I get points on Hertz #1 Club, using Noach Car. They got me double upgrades almost every time.

OT, do not talk on a cell while driving, even if you are on speaker but holding the phone. I got a 1000 shekel ticket. Also, it is dangerous! If you do get stopped for anything, pull out your US license...

Nope. I was driving up to a traffic circle and I thought there was a crash or something. A punk-looking guy holding a clipboard standing nearby asked me something. I thought he was doing a survey so I answered him in russian (usually works) so the guy pulls out a police badge and asked for DL. I thought I was good because no speeding, cut red lights etc. and I was not talking on the cell. I was only talking on speaker and holding the wheel with both hands while holding the phone. I gave him my IL DL. He gave me a ticket for 1000 shekel. A guy came over to me and told me not to sign and that its my legal right not to sign. If you sign, its worse. I sent in a letter asking them to change it to a warning because I never got a ticket in all my years of driving in Israel and how I thought it was legal. If they wish, they convert it to a warning which means that it is pending, if you get another violation in a year (?) then you have to pay this one too. They turned down my request stating that I have not been driving on my IL DL that long (I just got it like a year ago) so I requested a court hearing and I am now waiting to hear from them  ::)

I have a Migu that I thought it was legal because otherwise I would have pulled out my US DL. Will have to see what happens. Any ideas or experience?

The reason u have bin receiving from Avis is that their locations here are all corporate,   Hertz is licensed location ,
U can always go online and check when searching location if its a corporate or not

Why would you ever pull out a ILDL? There is no excuse for that! What happens if you ignore the ticket? Does the DL just get revoked? If so maybe you can change your US DL and get off?

Sorry! I went to court, the judge offered me 600 shek reduced fine or 1000 donation to charity. In the end, he let me give up my DL for 2 weeks in lue of a fine. I had to give it in within 3 months and after 2 weeks I got a new one. I had to pay around 29 shek.
