I'm sure you don't have to look as far as BZN to find a place we both ate in... :P

At one point there had been a group of chassidim looking into moving to Detroit with a large number of families.

some of America's best Chinuch (outside NYC)
If you're Chabad, I'd say DTW is actually even better chinuch than NYC.
Very debatable.

(Though actually debating it would probably need to happen here  :P)

Yeah, I guess it's important to have yechi at the bottom of your kids permission slip for the field trip.

Don't they need the Rebbe's permission as well?

Like their policies on Meshichism or not, the Yeshivah in Detroit produces some of the most Chassidishe Bochurim in Chabad these days...

Can we please debate this.

What makes someone chasidish? He acts like he's doesn't car about the world?

Detroit does have some meshichists. But that's mainly in the dying neighborhood near nine mile. A whole mile and mile and a half away from the mainstream Jewish community. The new yeshiva located on 10 mile near the main yeshiva is really nicely built from money from the Mir family that gives to all the Jewish institutions in the city. And yes they do produced top notch

At one point in not so recent history there was a group of chassidim looking to move to Detroit because there rebbe is buried their . Obviously they did not get the haskama that they need nor was it really realistic.

The Mesivta in Detroit produces Chassidishe Bochurim these days, under the new "management" which has little to do with the old guys who became renowned for their policies on Meshichism.

770 Cholent?

I never managed to get myself to eat it. Apparently it tastes very good but it just doesn't look right.
