One downside of android is when you change to a new phone there isn't a method as good as itunes. Going from g2 to s6. Any ideas?

Titanium Backup.
Gotta be rooted. There are other no-root apps which are not bad, obviously not as powerful as TB.

What exactly are you trying to back up? All your apps and purchases are easily downloadable, your contacts should come in automatically and your photos should be backed up (hopefully). The only thing that used to be an issue is the app data (game scores etc) which nowadays should be backed up in Play Games. I just changed phones last week and was back to normal in absolutely no time.

I used the nfc from old device and when i turned on the s6 it prompted me to transfer. It's a lollipop feature which is helpful. Would be nice to have icons in the same places.. And dial shortcuts.

If you use a custom launcher, you can back that up too.
