Enjoyed the detail of your TR. Brought back memories of two years ago when I took my daughter (she was 9) to Italy. I agree that Florence is very touristy with many English speakers. We loved the Shul and attached museum in Rome. We had a wonderful docent. As for the security, it's how we roll these days (unfortunately). We ate at the Ba'Ghetto meat and it was spectacular, if you've not been there consider it next time.
