Depends who you ask about cartagena , we did not like CTG we stayed 1 day  and 1 night, South Americans tend to love CTG, Americans on the other hand even the ones who I asked all said they did not like it, make sure you drive up the coast to Santa Marta and spend a day and  night in Teyrona National park and sleep on a hamoock on the beach its real really awesome and very unforgettable experience. Ill update my trip report.

If you compare ctg to other beach destination its dirty, beaches are not clear water, the old city is nice but for one day.. its nothing special even Mia has more clear water.

If any one is traveling to either BOG or MDE I need to send a tallis to a friend.

Please message me,my friend will gladly show you around MDE and introduce you to the Jewish community, there is a large "bnie anusim" community with minyanim, kosher etc, they are extremely friendly.

Thanks-

Just got back from an amazing trip to Cartagena. Old city is beautiful and everything is dirt cheap! The Chabad rabbi and his wife Saadi and Esther gloiberman are amazing. So helpful!

any other info about Colombia?

Is Bogota safe (at least during the day)?

What is the Kosher scene for Bogota, medellin and Cartegena?

I'm thinking to go for a couple of days, flying into BOG be there for a day or two and go to either Medellin or Cartegena. Any suggestion?

I'm staying at the Hyatt Place Bogota right now. It is a brand new hotel and the opening party was actually today. It is owned by Yidden (5 brothers) and there's a Mezuza at the front door. I met the owners who are very nice people and so is the staff super nice. They will provide complimentary Kosher Breakfast by request for Hyatt members( under the Bogota Vaad Hakashrus Hechsher). They are very open to accommodating Jewish travelers.

Correction: breakfast is free for globalists. For non globalist there might be a charge (for 2 people 2 days it would’ve been about 30 USD)

Right, that's what my concierge told me but the hotel wanted to charge me so I said I was globalist and they said no problem. Perhaps it could've worked for regular members as well? or maybe the free breakfast is only the one offered by the hotel restaurant?

Chabad of Medellin is awesome.  They have a restaurant in the Chabad house during the week for diner (Pre-covid, not sure about now).  Trip to Guatape & coffee farm was great, as was just walking around the city,  Comuna 13 & riding the cable cars.  We had a tour guide for all of this and would highly recommend as without context its not that interesting.  Also we brought in lots of food and had no issues.

+1 Guatape - really beautiful

Cartagena is nice too - more touristy, but pleasant nonetheless
