Why fly AA if you can fly DY direct for the same price.

I've probably flown DY (long haul) more than any other DDFer and I've been fairly satisfied, especially at their price-point.

i've flown them transatlantic twice. the product is really great. (tbh i'm surprised a senior DDFer flys them)
the real benefit in using AA/BA/AY is the status and miles earned. plus people like me actually prefer stopovers sometimes...

not worth it for anyone flying from Lon to nyc To fly to OSl etc and back to Lon on to nyc vs DY flies from Lon to nyc for quite cheap.

In Principle yes. But DY only flies every other day, and may not be cheap the day you want it.
It always good to know other options
