Neither of my accounts offer this, though I'm not a heavy user (and that might have something to do with it).

I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

Assuming you know what you can do with GV (ring several phones at once, custom voice mail for each number, call blocking for certain numbers +++), you will no longer have to keep telling your contacts to call a different number (the GV no.). All the built in features will automatically work with your existing number.

What will porting do. Will I be able to make calls without my sprint account and just pay the 20 bucks and it will go thru GV? Sounds to good

Well, you'd be able to make calls, but not on a cellphone

So the only thing that I gain is that I have my house number. Will I still have to call my GV number then press2 to make a call or when I pick up the phone it will be conected to google right away. Thanks

lol, you're porting the number, not the phone-line. If you ported your land-line number to google then your landline wouldn't work and all calls to (what was) your landline number will ring to whatever other numbers you have specified in your GV, or to GV voicemail.
