Something to look out for with all the talk about fire alarms:

Doesn't really shock me, when my kids are in deep sleep I can be shaking them and they won't wake.

Mine tend to be lighter sleepers, but I think I'll run the fire alarms tonight just to check.

Depends when. At 7am they're light sleepers, a tiptoe will do it. But in middle of a deep sleep cycle it's actually a real challenge to wake them.

No chance me kids would move. I will try tonight and see if they respond at all.

I will also order one with voice alarm to see if that makes a difference.

perhaps his question is what can be placed onto it during Shabbos. Wet kugels from the fridge are an issue if the plate gets as high as it says it gets.
Wet kugel? Kugel is a dovor yovesh.

it's dovor losh if it's lukshen kugel from the fridge on Shabbos. It's bishul if it's cold from fridge and then reaches 180+ degrees on a commercial hot plate. Also:

+1. What is the question
As my father told me he heard from r' belsky technically you are allowed to put food on top of the cholent however there is almost always an issue (cooking some liquid)

one can only do place on top of the cholent because it's shinui/not the intention of the pot.
However if the purpose of the commercially bought warming tray is on a timer to turn on at 9am in order to heat up something cold and wet to over 200 degrees on Shabbos, then that's a Halachic bishul issue...

I may know over 100 rabbis of all types, and I do not know of a single orthodox rabbi (others may know one) that would permit a cold lukshen kugel to be taken out of a fridge on Shabbos morning to be placed on a hot plate over 300 degrees (as the Amazon one is featured) to be heated to reach over 'yad soledes' on Shabbos. Even by a housekeeper. Even on a timer.

I just said that kugel is called a dovor yovesh.
Dovor yovesh does not mean bone dry. You wouldn't find a reasonable posek who can classify any normal kukel as non dovor yovesh.

Pretty sure the only issue with putting the Kugel directly on the hot plate is nerah kmevashel, not actually cooking. This issue does not exist with a crock pot because none cooks in such a method.
I don't see any distinction between potato and luchnien kugel in regards to this.

sounds slightly torturous. Will you warn them in advance?  (before they go to sleep?)
