Partner airline help
« on: January 20, 2011, 01:33:38 PM »
Just finished a great 3 day trip to LA with my wife that could have only happened because of this site and the great info on the forums.

So firstly, thank you.

Next, I used BA miles to get 2 business class tickets from JFK-LAX on their 767's. While on board, they made us aware that the power ports on the seats were not working. At some point the FA came over to my wife and I and asked if we're Advantage members and said that if we are, we would be receiving 10K as a courtesy gesture for the inconvenience. My record locater obviously won't match my Advantage number because I used BA miles. 10K each way x 2 (they were out on both flights) is 20K for each one of us. So the question is......who do I write a letter to to try to get my miles? BA or AA? Do I stand a chance? Any input or info would be greatly appreciated.

Well no one liked my post, so I went ahead and emailed AA complaints and got this:

Thank you for contacting Customer Relations, I welcome the opportunity to reply.

We understand that it was disappointing to find that the power ports on your recent flights were not available. Because of a technical issue, we have temporarily deactivated the power ports in all of our 767-200 aircraft and in the coach cabin of some of our 767-300 aircraft. The 767-200 is used primarily on domestic transcontinental routes, and the 767-300 is used on international routes.

We understand that many of our customers have become accustomed to using power ports on these longer flights, and we are very sorry for any inconvenience that this caused. We are looking into this issue to determine what steps are needed to reactivate the power ports.

As a gesture of goodwill, we have added 20,000 bonus miles to your AAdvantageŽ accounts  :). This adjustment will be reflected in your accounts very soon.

Mr. ...., again, we apologize that the power ports on your flight were not available. We appreciate your business very much, and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you aboard again soon.

They told me they would be out all month, so anyone want to chop arein and spend 50K on business JFK-LAX (nice seats), you'll probably get 20K back.
