Are refundable tickets a valid way to meet thresholds?
The Baal Shem Tov went around for the sole purpose of getting Jews to say, baruch (drawing down) Hashem into our lives.

I notice that when I get a ticket or any other items refunded (after the charge posts) it’s deducted from my current statement balance.
Has anyone tried to do this intentionally to buy extra time to pay the bill? Is there any risk in doing this?

There's always a risk but people have been doing this for a long time. just don't make it a habit
