Elal vs AA

My sister is flying next week to Israel with Elal booked by Elal. She payed around $1000. She is not going to do much flying. How many AA points will she get if she gives an AA number by signing up to AA?
 Is it worth it to get the small amount of AA miles of Elal points?

JFK-TLV-JFK should be 11,354 miles on AA.  Nothing to sneeze at.

Am I correct that 11,354 AA can be used towards a hotel stay or car rental, (at least partially), while 100-200 Matmid is practically worthless?

she might not even get that much, it depends what kind of ticket she booked.  if its a deeply discounted ticket she'll get half that.
