This is what I came up with (with help from Chat GPT) It was Let the mixture steep uncovered for 5 minutes. Do not stir during this time. At the 5-minute mark, gently break the surface crust with a spoon. Do not stir deeply—just disturb the top. Allow the mixture to settle undisturbed for an additional 5–7 minutes, until the top layer darkens and the grounds begin to sink.
Any idea why not to stir?
Maybe so it has an easier time settling to the bottom of the pot?
What's the benefit of this vs regular drip ?
This is what I came up with (with help from Chat GPT) It was good but the yield is pretty low. Almost seems wasteful. I guess I could have done a second batch but I would try with more water initially next timeCometeer-Style Coffee Concentrate Yield: Approximately 500 g (17.6 oz) concentrate Prep Time: 15–20 minutes Storage: Refrigerate for up to 7 days or freeze in 1–2 oz portions Ingredients 369 g whole bean coffee (Trader Joe’s Organic Sumatra recommended) 1476 g filtered water Equipment Burr grinder (or grind in-store to medium-fine) Large pot Spoon for stirring Cheesecloth or fine mesh strainer (optional) #4 paper coffee filter + funnel or pour-over cone Ladle Storage containers or ice cube trays Instructions Grind the beans to a medium-fine consistency—slightly finer than drip but not espresso fine. Heat the water to about 200°F (just below boiling). Once it reaches temperature, turn off the heat. Add the ground coffee to the hot water in the pot. Stir thoroughly to ensure all grounds are fully saturated. Let the mixture steep uncovered for 5 minutes. Do not stir during this time. At the 5-minute mark, gently break the surface crust with a spoon. Do not stir deeply—just disturb the top. Allow the mixture to settle undisturbed for an additional 5–7 minutes, until the top layer darkens and the grounds begin to sink. Carefully ladle the clearer liquid from the top, avoiding the bottom sludge. (Optional but recommended) First filter the ladled coffee through a mesh strainer or cheesecloth to remove coarse particles. Final filter the liquid through a #4 paper coffee filter placed in a funnel or pour-over cone. Filter in small batches to avoid clogging. Store the resulting concentrate in a clean jar in the refrigerator for up to 7 days, or freeze in silicone trays for long-term storage.
Way to over complicate things... buy CB grind from any roaster you can play with ratios to get the concetrate u like (i do 1 part coffee to 8 parts water) let it sit in fridge ot or on counter for 38hr transfer to ice cube tray and freeze vyalla
. B) I need to filter out the grit
Buy filter bags
Where's the fun in that?
